What Can I Expect?
If you need to have a tooth extracted, our dental team will provide you with a pleasant yet efficient treatment. You should feel as comfortable as possible during your procedure, and our team is equipped to help you do just that.
After a tooth extraction, you will want to avoid the following:
- Any activity that prevents normal healing, especially rigorous activities
- Smoking or tobacco use of any kind for the first 3-4 days
- Rinsing your mouth too roughly
- Drinking through straws for at least 3-4 days
- Eating anything sticky, chewy, crunchy, or spicy. Avoid eating small things like rice, seeds, or quinoa
You should lightly swish with warm salt water 24 hours after an extraction. If you have swelling, apply an ice pack. Continue to brush and floss your teeth, but avoid the area where the tooth was removed for a few days.
